The European Commission has registered a petition calling for a ban on the use of glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto’s top-selling weedkiller. The European Citizens Initiative (ECI) calls on the commission to propose a “ban on glyphosate, to reform the pesticide approval procedure, and to set EU-wide mandatory reduction targets for pesticide use”.
