VIDEO: Sheep losses mount as snow melts

Hundreds, perhaps thousands of sheep remain unaccounted for more than two weeks after snow storms hit upland Britain.

The knock-on effects of the coldest March for 51 years are likely to last for years as hill farmers continue to count the cost.

For now, farmers are focusing their attention on saving the livestock that survived.

Many sheep are coming down off the fells in poor condition.

In some cases, ewes are dropping with twin lamb disease. Others are aborting or rejecting their young.
