Kirkby Stephen stores meet flying trade

Store cattle met a red hot trade at Kirkby Stephen on Monday when auctioneer David Tomlinson of Harrison and Hetherington sold 1100 head to a packed ringside with a tremendous quality offering forward.

Heading the trade and taking the reserve overall championship was a British Blue sired heifer from Martin Brown and family and led out by daughter Hannah. This one sold at ÂŁ3200 to the show judge Ian Pickup, Great Horwood.

Second best price was an ÂŁ1800 sale for a British Blue sired heifer from K A Brown and Sons, Asby Hall, and the Browns also secured ÂŁ1600 for a British Blue sired steer, while fourth best was a ÂŁ1350 bid for the second placed Limousin cross heifer from Levens Farming Partnership.

Fifth top went to the overall champion, a Limousin cross heifer also from Levens Farming Partnership, Gaythorne Hall, which sold at ÂŁ1300 to Mr Pickup.
