Beeston mid-month dairy trade hits £2600

Trade at last week’s mid-month sale at Beeston saw a top call of £2600 paid for a Shottle daughter from D J D and J B Taylor. This fresh calved heifer was giving 36kg a day when sold to J L and E M Parker and Son, Stafford.

At £2180 was a heifer from D J and s Windsor, Whitchurch. This Moet Nansen daughter calved on 6 January and was snapped up by local buyers P and A Howard.

Then at £2100 was another heifer from Messrs Taylor. This one, by Askew Reece and giving 32kg a day sold to Messrs Parker, again. Another two from the Taylors sold at £2000, as did a heifer from Mark Dowden, also by Askew Reece, this one giving 33.5kg a day sold to Geoff Thomasson, Norbury.

Top priced cow of the sale was a £2000 bid for Lavenham Annie 1361, a Merchant daughter consigned by R Darlington. She sold to J G and C A Bayley, Nuneaton.
