Carlisle Roussins top at 1200gns

In what was a rare four figure bid for the breed Roussins sold to a top call of 1200gns at Carlisle on Saturday with the this price paid for the third prize ram lamb from the pre-sale show.

This one from John Fleming’s Stairhaven flock at Glenluce, Wigtownshire, was bought by G McIntyre, Moniaive, Thornhill.

Second best at 700gns was the first prize ram lamb and overall champion from the pre-sale show. This was from Martin McCornick’s McCornick flock at Kircowan, Newton Stewart, and sold to T J Powell, Kington, Herefordshire.

Making 600gns was another of the tup lambs from Mr Fleming. This one sold to W and G Coulter, Biggar, Lanarkshire.

Averages; 28 ram lambs ÂŁ426.75, one shearling ram ÂŁ210, three shearling ewes ÂŁ280, 17 ewe lambs ÂŁ206.29 (Harrison and Hetherington).
