Judging in the beef lines has now finished for the day, with yet more strong competition in all breeds this afternoon.
In the Aberdeen-Angus classes it was the turn of a nine-year old cow to take the championship, with Whittaker Farms’ 2002-born cow Rosemount Justine Erica taking the championship. She was also interbreed champion at Northumberland and is by Heath House Plato and out of Rosemount Justine Erica. Reserve to her was Ballathie Estates’ bull Luddenmore Mr Edition, a Hoff Limited Edition son.Winning the British Blues was Kevin Watret with his bull Solway View Fire Cracker. This one is by Gitane D P’Tit Mayeur and out of Annanwater Wispa. Reserve to him was Tom Cockburn’s heifer Lyonpark Evelien, another by Gitan.
Then in the commercial cattle classes it was a second win in a row for Stuart Bett and Craig Malone. Their winner this year was Pusseyy Galore, a 620kg Limousin cross heifer by Ardlebank Titan. She was bred by Wilson Peters, Monzie Estates. And indeed it was Mr Peters himself who stood reserve with a heifer by Normande Adventurer and out of a Limousin cross dam.
Belted Galloway champion was Jennifer Taylor’s heifer Tobergill Narnia, a Coulmony Coll daughter out of Tobergill Katy. Reserve was Jane Smith’s heifer Whitepool Moondust.
In the Salers ring the champion was Bryan Walling with his heifer Cumbrian Hyacinth 456, a Jaguar Imp daughter out of Upperlands Hyacinth 373. Reserve here was Robert Livesey with his bull Cleuchhead Zebra.
Champion in the Galloway lines was 2003-born cow Blackcraig Noreen L122 from J and A Finlay. She’s by Diamond B Knockout 1 and out of Blackcraig Noreen D2. I’ve not news of the reserve here, but will investigate it ASAP.
