A pen of four Beltex lambs smashed records at Clitheroe Auction Mart’s annual Christmas show and sale on Tuesday (13 December).
Taking the championship, judged by Mr Ben Gray, the four from I & M Lancaster, Wiswell, weighed in at 40.5kg. They were snapped up by Countryside Meats, Lancaster, for a mart record price of £208 (514p/kg).
The Lancasters also took the reserve title, with another pen of four Beltex lambs. This lot, weighing in at 42kg, sold to J & E Fitton, Oldham, for £148 (352p/kg).
