Perth Bull Sales 2012: Biggar scoops Beef Shorthorn championship
Charlie Russell awarded his overall male champion Beef Shorthorn to Mr Donald Biggar’s Chapelton Duke (lot 404). This March 2010 born bull is by Chapelton Typhoon and out of Chapelton Duchess. He boasts a TSI of +36 and a SRI of +28.
Mr Russell said of the beast: “He is exactly what I look for in a shorthorn bull – long bodied with plenty of power and presence. Both the champion and reserve are probably two of the best Beef Shorthorn bulls I have seen in a long time.
“The quality of stock was really good and a serious improvement on previous years; full credit goes to the breed for bringing it on. I was really impressed with the way the bulls were walking, their locomotion was really improved.”
The reserve overall male champion title went to Mr Neil Massie’s Blelack Major (lot 422). This one is by Blelack Secret Service and out of Blelack Mavis; it has a TSI of +13 and a SRI of +11.
