Willie Robertson of the Nightingale herd, Pershore, Worcestershire, has sold Nightingale Perry L577 to the Borewell Angus herd of Daniel Whiteford and Co, Berwick-on-Tweed.
Commenting on the sale Mr Robertson said: “Perry is the top animal produced in the Nightingale herd in 2011. He has excellent body and limb structure with good shape and muscle and has the best pedigree that has yet been produced from the herd”.
January 2011-born Perry is by the successful Nightingale Ploughman G376 which was sold to Genus Breeding and has been used extensively throughout the breed in the
Performance wise Perry carries himself in the top 1% of the breed for 200, 400 and 600 day weights and has an impressive EMA of +7.8 along with a Terminal Index of +51 and a Self Replacing Index of +68.
Commenting on his purchase Mr Whiteford added: “It was important for us to find a herd sire with the performance that the modern market requires. With his strong confirmation backed up with generations of top performing cattle, it would be impossible to pass by on such a bull.”
Borewell Angus hopes to have semen available for sale in the near future.
