Royal Norfolk Show 2012: Charollais ewe reigns supreme
The silverware in the sheep interbreed championships has been awarded to a Charollais ewe from Cecil and Janet Thomas, New Farm, Warwickshire.
This two-crop ewe is by Cold Harbour Icarus; today’s win follows on from taking interbreed champion title at Derby as a ewe lamb two years ago, and interbreed champion title at Kenilworth this year as well as reserve interbreed at the Lincoln show.
Originally bought for ÂŁ250 from Ben and Tori Stanley, this one is a Blackbrook Dancer son. Today’s win follows on from taking the champion title at this year’s Suffolk and Rutland shows; Mr Smith now plans to show him at the Yorkshire Show in July.
Judge Charles Marwood from Whenby, Yorkshire said: “The champion was an outstanding sheep – for a ewe she has got style and presence. She was sparkling. The Charollais was very well balanced throughout, and fit and not too fat.”
