Shearling ram sells for 880gns at Worcester Oxford Down sale

The Oxford Down Society Sale at Worcester proved a memorable day for Miss N Farmer when her shearling ram Woodside Pringle took the overall championship and was sold for 880gns to E Duggleby, Driffield, Yorkshire. 

 

The only entry in the sale from the Woodside flock was hotly contested and joined a newly formed flock in Yorkshire.

 

Ram lambs were closely followed and Mr J R Williams’ Greenland flock, from Aberystwyth had a total clearance topping at 330gns for a December twin selling to J W Hook, Witney, Oxon.  Mr Hook also took two other Greenlands rams, the reserve male champion at 300gns and a half brother also at 300gns.

 

Females were well sold with quality the name of the game.  The female champion, a shearling ewe from J W Hook’s Barley Park flock sold to 330gns to the show judge, Tudor Jones, Anglesey,  who also secured a half sister at 350gns.

 

Best in the ewe lambs were two half sisters from R J and J Richardson’s Horsley flock which both sold to 180gns to D Lindford, Buckingham.
