Record prices achieved for Texels at United Auctions Stirling

A record centre price was achieved last night at United Auctions Stirling Agricultural Centre, when a Texel gimmer sold for 8,500gns.

From the Reid family’s Kelso and Meadowvale flocks, this Kelso Pedro daughter out of a Newhill Major mother, went to Staplegrove Livestock Ltd, Foxhill Farm, Blackborough, Devon.

A centre record for a Texel ewe was also achieved at 4,500gns for a 2 crop Kelso Ozone daughter out of a Newhill Major ewe; this one sold to Boden and Davies, Mellor Hall Farms, Stockport.

A large attendance of buyers ensured a strong trade throughout the sale.   And first of the gimmers sold at 1,700gns for a Kelso Prostar daughter out of a Cambwell Laird mother selling to D McManaman, Co Mayo, while 1,500gns was achieved for a Llangwm Rocky daughter out of a McFly mother to E Hogg, Derryharney.
