Kerry Hill sells to peak of 1,600gns
An entry of 300 registered Kerry Hill sheep sold to a peak of 1,600gns at Ludlow Market on the weekend.
Leading the female trade was the champion yearling ewe, from the Pengwern flock of G W Roberts, which sold for 1,600gns to Dalesford Organics, Moreton in Marsh.
Selling to the same home for 950gns was a lax ewe from Antony John.
Next was a Whitcastles ewe, from L J Steen, which sold for 850gns and a Woodhouse ewe from J and P Owen, at 800gns – both purchased by Dalesford Organics.
Ewe lambs topped the market at 750gns, with a lamb from young breeder Sion Jones, from the Fronarth flock selling to R G Williams, Maes-y-Neuadd, Caernarfon.
Then selling at 700gns was a Woodhouse ewe lamb selling to R Powell, Broniarth View, Welshpool.
Rams sold to 2,400g for a two- year old from the Plaish flock from F W Jones and Sons, also selling to Dalesford Organics.
The overall champion was a yearling ram from the Woodhouse Flock shown by daughter Ellie Owens. It sold for 2,200gns to Messrs Hazard, from Northern Ireland.
Making 650gns was a Lowlands ram lamb, from W Evans, which sold to Messrs Powell, Coleford, Glos.
