Livestock 2012 – Richaven takes Senior Holstein Championship

By Simon Wragg

With eight entries in the Holstein classes for five and six year old cows, judge Tom Kelly described these cattle ‘as the top attainers – the ones that had stood the test of time’ which also presented two very good classes for ringside spectators.

Senior Champion went to RA Bown’s Richaven Goldwyn Adrienne by Braedale Goldwyn and out of Richaven Astronomical Adrienne. “She’s just so balanced,” remarked Mr Kelly.

This cow – which was Exhibitor Bred Champion at last year’s event calved in March with her third and is still giving 57kg/day – comes from the 80-strong Richaven herd.

Into Reserve Senior Champion went B Yates’ Logan Modest Lulu which is by Regancrest LH Modest and out of Logan Indro Lulu.
