Worcester Beltex sale tops 2,500gns

TheBeltex Sheep Society’s Annual Show and Sale at Worcester boosted the ratings,with a flurry of four figure prices and no shortage of keen competition in allsections.

Toppingthe bill was the female and overall champion Whatmore Rolling Pin, a shearlingewe from S and S Gibbons’ flock. She was secured by E and C Jones, Dingestow,Monmouth at 2,500gns.

Femaledemand was selective, but ewe lambs enjoyed a sound following selling to 700gnstwice for the first and second prize winners from Andres Bishop’s flock. Bothwent to M Launder, from Welshpool, Powys.

 

TheBishops prefix was high profile in the ram section too, with the first andreserve champion ram lamb peaking at 2,000gns to B McQuaid, from Banbridge,Northern Ireland.

 

Therenowned Luggsmill flock of David and Ivy Bishop was well featured inproceedings, with two shearling rams enjoying strong competition selling to 1,100gnsand 1,050gns to A and R Livestock, Gloucester and Davies and Webster, Tregaron,Ceredigion, respectively.

 

Agood level trade on strong shearling rams was experienced and Paul Tippetts’Hackney flock enjoyed keen bidding with a shearling at 1,020gns to D S Wadland,Aston le Walls, Northants.
