Lleyn ram sells for 1,400gns at Welshpool

Exceptional clearance rates across the board resulted in a very successful Lleyn society sale at Welshpool Market on the weekend.  100% clearance was seen in the shearling ewe section with W J and D J Williams, Nefyn topping the prices.  Messrs Williams’ second prize pen sold for £255/head to E L L Williams, Gwynedd.  The third prize pen from D N Bennett and Son, Powys sold for £238/head to N Legge, Leominster.  Christine Lewis, Powys sold her first prize pen for £225/head to W P Davies, LLanelwy.

In the ewe lamb section once again W J and D J Williams were at the top when selling the champion pen for £170/head to A Pritchard, Deeside.  D N Bennett and Son sold the third prize pen for £160/head to N Legge, Leominster while D A Jones, Powys sold the second prize pen for £150/head to E M Evans, Oswestry.

The ram section was won by H and M Dugdale, Settle who also realised the top price of 1,400gns when selling their homebred shearling to G and A Fort, Keighley.  D N Bennett and Son were next with their second prize Goldie son selling for 980gns to M White, Coldfield.  Robert Bennett, Powys was next to top with his third prize shearling selling for 780gns to G Williams, Meifod.
