Newark Limousins sell to 4725gns

A 2004-bred cow from the Cockleshell herd of the Pitcher family from Lincolnshire topped a collective sale of Limousin cattle at Newark Livestock market selling for 4725gns.

 

Cockleshell Vienna, by Cockleshell Olympus, was suckling her March-born heifer calf by Chytodden Conan, and was bought by Turner Farms, Holmfirth, west Yorkshire.

 

 

108 Bailgate Flavia 4200gns web.jpgBailgate Flavia, an in-calf heifer from J Ward Farming, Lincoln made 4410gns to W Bird, Tadcaster, Yorkshire. She is by the 100,000gns Haltcliffe Vermount and is in-calf to Bailgate Fearless.

 

Messrs Heald, Retford, Nottinghamshire shared the top bull price of 3150gns paid for their January-2011 bred Coachhouse Galahad – a Rocky son taken by C Hardcastle, Grantham. Also at 3150gns was Dolcorsllwyn Gladiator from G Vaughan, Machynlleth, Powys. This Cloughhead Umpire son was bought by M Chantell, Leicestershire.

 

Averages: 14 in-calf cows £1908; nine bulls £2508; 37 cows and calved heifers £2169; 10 weaned calves £1050; eight maiden heifers £2080; 12 in-calf heifers £2795.
