Penhole Charolais peak at 4,600gns

Charolais met a solid demand selling to a top of 4,600gns when W B Gubbin and Son, Launceston, Cornwall, dispersed their Penhole herd at Exeter Livestock Centre on Friday.

Heading the dispersal at 4,600gns was Penhole Eternity, a three year old by the 8,500gns Coolnaslee Valour and out of a homebred dam. She was sold with her three month old calf, Penhole Harpsichord by Penhole Dannyboy, aand was pd’d in calf to Penhole Admirable. Eternity was secured by S J Gabriel, Launceston, Cornwall. The same buyer also made a call of 2,600gns for the four year old Penhole Denise and her three month old heifer calf Penhole Hibiscus, by Dannyboy. Denise was also sired by stock bull Valour, out of a homebred dam and pd’d in calf to Admirable.

Next at 4,200gns came Penhole Deutzia, another Valour daughter and out of a homebred dam, with her three month old heifer calf Penhole Highness by Dannyboy. This four year old was pd’d in calf to Admirable and knocked down sold to N A McInerney, Exeter, Devon.

Leading the entry of Penhole bulls at 3,200gns was Penhole Generator, an 18 month old by Dannyboy and out of a homebred dam. He was secured by W Haydon and Son, Exeter, Devon.

Purchased for 2,900gns was the two year old heifer Penhole Flame. In calf to Admirable, this one was by the 6,600gns Edenhurst Regal, a bull going back to Oldstone Egbert, and out of a homebred dam. She sold to R J Gregory and Son, Truro, Cornwall. A consignment of bulls from South West breeders were also up for sale with the same buyers reaping back their investment with their 16 month old bull, Kerling Goldie TI+49, SRI +49, sold for 3,300gns. Goldie, by the 16,000gns Clyth Diplomat and out of Trescoll Charlotte, was secured by Messrs Vooght, Exeter, Devon.
