And making it a double win in the sheep lines was Sarah and Steve Gibbons, Herefordshire, taking the champion and reserve title. Taking the top slot was the homebred pair of Blue Texel ewe lambs sired by Whatsmore Siren. The Gibbons were the first producers to bring Blue Texel’s in to the UK and Mrs Gibbons described the win as “unbelievable”. “My dream was to get some Blue Texels to win a fatstock show, it’s just unbelievable.”

In reserve was their homebred pair of Beltex cross ewe lambs sired by Llwynbrain Nelson, a homebred tup.

Judge Clifford Pearce, Bristol said the loin was slightly better on the Blue Texel and had a nice saddle and loin with leg full of meat.
