Prices up at Kington finished sheep sale

An entry of 1,650 lambs at Kington market sold to a muchbrighter trade than the previous week, aided by the fact there were less lambsforward and there was extra buying support. The top price pen of lambs was £80.50for some 55kg lambs from JW Rees & Sons.

Lambs between 32kg & 39kg averaged1.54ppk up to 1.60ppk

Lambs between 39.5kg & 45.5kg averaged1.58ppk up to 1.68ppk

Lambs between 46kg & 52kg averaged 1.55ppkup to 1.60ppk

Lambs over 52kg averaged 1.50ppk upto 1.52ppk

Cull ewes

There was a smaller entry of 250 cull ewesselling again to a better trade. Meated ewe, not fat, sold to premium prices. Thinnerewes were more difficult to sell. The ewes sold to a top of £102 for someCharolais cross ewes from George Griffiths and all the ewes averaged  £60.05 per head, with many hill ewesforward. Tups and weathers sold to a good trade and sold to £70 to average £62.The cull ewes included a large proportion of thinner mule ewes and smaller hillewes.
