Prices up at Kington finished sheep sale
An entry of 1,650 lambs at Kington market sold to a muchbrighter trade than the previous week, aided by the fact there were less lambsforward and there was extra buying support. The top price pen of lambs was ÂŁ80.50for some 55kg lambs from JW Rees & Sons.
Lambs between 32kg & 39kg averaged1.54ppk up to 1.60ppk
Lambs between 39.5kg & 45.5kg averaged1.58ppk up to 1.68ppk
Lambs between 46kg & 52kg averaged 1.55ppkup to 1.60ppk
Lambs over 52kg averaged 1.50ppk upto 1.52ppk
Cull ewes
There was a smaller entry of 250 cull ewesselling again to a better trade. Meated ewe, not fat, sold to premium prices. Thinnerewes were more difficult to sell. The ewes sold to a top of ÂŁ102 for someCharolais cross ewes from George Griffiths and all the ewes averaged ÂŁ60.05 per head, with many hill ewesforward. Tups and weathers sold to a good trade and sold to ÂŁ70 to average ÂŁ62.The cull ewes included a large proportion of thinner mule ewes and smaller hillewes.
