North West Texels to 1950gns

Charlie Boden’s shearling gimmer sold for 1,950gns
Bidding twice hit 1,950gns at the North West Texel Breeders Club’s show and sale at Chelford,
Charlie Boden was first to make the day’s best when he sold a shearling gimmer from his Sportsmans flock by Cowal Rob Roy that had stood reserve champion. In-lamb to Milnbank Special One, she was claimed by Northamptonshire breeders Messrs Kellet, Castle Ashby Farms.
The sale achieved a very high clearance rate from one of the biggest crowds ever seen at this event. Sharing the top price of 1,950gns was a shearling from Borders-based breeder Gordon Gray’s Ettrick flock. The gimmer (above), by Ettrick Rainbow Warrior, had taken the championship under judge Angela Nairey and was in-lamb to Ettrick Tartan Special. Buyer was Richard Fitton,
The day also saw the Beltex Sheep Society stage a female sale where bidding reached 650gns paid by Mr Kirk, Southwell, Nottinghamshire for the 2010-bred Southern Acres Patty – A Bishops Nijinsky sired ewe consigned by L and S E Hewitt.
