Doncombe Blondes reach £4,200 at Worcester

A bid of £4,200 was top price of the day at the British Blonde sale at Worcester market for Doncombe Gypsey King from David Knights Doncombe herd, near Bristol. Having won both junior and overall championship in the pre-sale show judged by Dannie Wyllie from Staffordshire, this champion bull headed home with T and A Lord, Partridge Green. Gypsey king is sired by Doncombe Chevalier out of homebred cow Doncombe Arabesque.

Champion Doncombe Gypsey King.jpgNext in the money at £3,990 was Allacott Grand bred by David Skinner from Shebbear, Devon. With a Beef Value of 16, the March 2011 born bull weighed 935kg and found his new home in Bovey Tracey with K Harvey.

David Knight saw another of his bulls go to Mr Lord to accompany champion Doncombe Gypsey King, Doncombe Gladsheim born June 2011 weighing 990kg. Sired by Rodleigh Voyageur Gladsheim he sold for £3,517.

Andrew Bailey, Lancaster achieved the next highest price with his July 2011 born bull Baileys Goldwyn. Sired by Kinaston Carlos and out of Paragon C J this one took the reserve junior champion award and sold for £3,517 to Collins Farms, Wiltshire.

Sired by Marstonmill Dexter out of Marstonmill Angel, Gallagher and with a Beef Value of 15 he also headed home with Collins Farms, Wiltshire.

Top price heifer Arlebrook Harmony from Mark Wheeler from Gloucestershire saw the hammer fall to Moores Livestock with a bid of £1,491 travelling to Pot Raw in Norfolk. Grandaughter to Druk Thor and Druk Lance, this fourteen month old heifer is destined for the show ring this summer.
