Jersey takes title at Welsh Dairy Show

Jersey cow, Bluegrass Heritages Lovely Lady has completed a successful few weeks after winning the interbreed championship at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, The Bath and West Dairy Show, and The Welsh Dairy Show.

Owned and exhibited by AH Wilson and Son in their Tregibby herd of pedigree Jerseys near Cardigan, Lovely Lady is in her third lactation.

"This is quite a remarkable performance," said Peter Prior, chairman of Shows and Judges with UK Jerseys. "We are delighted for the Wilsons, and Lovely Lady's breeders, Barry and Jenny Daw of Bluegrass Jerseys. With ambassadors like Lovely Lady, the Jersey breed has a great future and is going places to contribute to the dairy industry in this country." 

Jersey takes interbreed title at National All Breeds Show

The Jersey champion Bluegrass Heritages Lovely Lady from Hefin Wilson and family has just taken the interbreed championship in the National All Breeds Show here at the NEC.792011 Jersey Champ.JPGThis third calver is by Bluegrass Heathers Heritage and was bred by Barry and Jenny Daw. She is out of Bluegrass Joanna's Lady Valentine and was bought by the Wilson family as a heifer having seen her at the South West Dairy Show two years ago. Led by Jimmy Wilson in the ring she have 8000kg in her last lactation at 6% butterfat and 4.1% protein and is predicted to do 10,000kg this time having been calved eight months.

Taking the reserve interbreed title was the Holstein which had beaten Lovely Lady to the interbreed title at the Royal Welsh Show earlier in the year, second calver Castellhyfryd Spirte Rosina from Simon and Sian  Davies and Kevin and Cathy Thomas. This one is by Cedarwal Spirte and was champion at the Royal Welsh earlier this summer having calved twins in May. She gave 12,738kg in her first lactation at 3.73% butterfat and 3.04% protein.792011 Holstein Champ.JPGCollecting the interbreed exhibitor bred title was Richard Bown with Richaven Goldwyn Adrienne, a Goldwyn daughter. She is out of Richaven Astronomical Adrienne and gave 11,902 in her last lactation at 4.41% butterfat and 3.1% protein.

Reserve to her in the exhibitor bred championship was Jersey fourth calver Saxown Just Eclair from the Saxby family, with this one being a Rapid Bay Just Wait daughter.

And the Jerseys continued their successful run in the interbreed team of four championship, lifting top honours here ahead of the Holstein team.







DELS Holstein championship to Wales

Judging here at the NEC is gradually reaching the climax of the two days, with the interbreed championship coming along shortly.

But before that it has been the turn of the Holsteins to take centre stage in deciding their breed championship.

Taking top honours was the second calver Castellhyfryd Spirte Rosina from Simon and Sian  Davies and Kevin and Cathy Thomas. This one is by Cedarwal Spirte and was champion at the Royal Welsh earlier this summer having calved twins in May.792011 Holstein Champ.JPG

In reserve was Richard Bown with Richaven Goldwyn Adrienne, a Goldwyn daughter. She is out of Richaven Astronomical Adrienne and also picked up the Holstein exhibitor bred championship.

DELS Jersey in-milk championship result

DELS Guernsey in-milk championship decided

Taking the Guernsey championship in the National All Breeds Show was Cadbury Hawk Pretty 86, a Jens Gold G Hawk daughter from R J Norman and C Mills.792011 Gurnsey Champ.JPG

Reserve championship honours in this breed were taken by Bickfield Rainbow 51, a Slindon Posies Ambionic daughter from C J R and S M H Evans.

First DELS cow breed championships decided

The first of the breed championships has been decided here at the NEC, with the British Friesian championship going to the Lawson family with their Lismulligan Priscilla 41. This is by Deangate Prince 2.792011 British F Champ.JPGReserve to her was Oakalby Breadwinner S Ruth 34 from the Burroughs family, she is a Grove Breadwinner daughter.

Then in the Ayrshire classes the champion was Gwynnog Sand Ranger Sailorgirl from Geraint Thomas, she's a Morwickn Sand Ranger Red daughter.792011 Ayshire Champ.JPGStanding in reserve was Millford Jungle Girl 77, a McCornick Nelson daughter from Alan Timbrell.

Final Holstein in-milk result

The final class of in-milk cows has now been judged this morning, with this being the last of the Holstein classes.

Winning this class was Styche Lyster Sally from Seaton Farms, this is a Tcet Lyster daughter, second to her was Corringham Bob Roxy Red from Riverdane Holsteins, I Morgan and T Bourke. This is a Ja-Bob Jordan Red daughter.

Then taking third spot was Wyndford Present 72 from Wilfred Maddocks, this is by Roylane Jordan. Fourth was then won by Richaven Raider Squaw from Richard Bown, this is by Hanoverhill Raider and in fifth was Dalesend Silky Rena from Dalesend Farms, this one is by Silky Gibson.

The breed championships now follow in the next hour or so......

DELS Dairy Shorthorn, Jersey and Holstein in-milk results

In the final Dairy Shorthorn class of the morning the winning cow was Nejay Erin 2, a Morwick Sand Ranger daughter from N Madeley, with Churchroyud Heather 29 in second for the Collins family, she's by Jerom.

And third spot in this class went to Daimat Duchess 3 from N Madeley, with this one being a J A Bob Jordan Red daughter, then in fourth was Rodway Jenna 2 from G A Madeley, she's by Kingsdale Libbys Rebel.

In the final Jersey class the winner was Braymeadow Lends Sophie, a Cardinal Monatana Lend daughter from Willie and Jo Templeton, with Bluegrass Jazzman Pams Panama from Hefin Wilson in second, she is by Rapid Bay Jazzman.

Following that in the penultimate Holstein class of the day the winner was Huddlesford Mrs Melody from Wilfred Maddocks, this is by Regancrest-Mr Drham Sam, second to her was Weeton Oralie Talent from Pedran Holsteins, with this being a Ladino Park Talent daughter.

Third in this class was won by Park Allen Rachel, a Canyon Breeze Allen daughter from Messrs Nadin and Bradbury, with Overside Mr Sam Bonita standing fourth for Riverdane Holsteins and Ruth Watson. This is another Drham Sam daughter.
The second Ayrshire in-milk class of the day has now been placed, with the first prize ticket going to Millford Jungle Girl 77, a McCornick Nelson daughter from Alan Timbrell. In second spot was Haresfoot Simply Red Pamela from S P R and L Reed, a Forte Simply Red daughter.

Then in third place was Millford Lark 20 from Alan Timbrell, with this being a Horizon Ranger Red daughter, in fourth place was Roshill Prickly Jean from W R C and J E Christophers, a Rosehill Blackthorn daughter and in fifth was Heydale Ovoid 242 from D W Berresford and Son, she's by Heydale Blizzard.

And in the British Friesian second class of the day the winner was Oakalby Breadwinner S Ruth 34 from the Burroughs family, a Grove Breadwinner daughter. Second place in this class went to Lismulligan Gay 67 from Brian Lawson, she's by Blackisle Benromach.

And the second class of Brown Swiss has just been completed too, with the winner in this class being Kedar Becks Alice, a Kedar Becks daughter from T Lochhead and Sons, second place went to Kedar Seattle Glenda from T Lochhead and Sons, a G S Prophet Seattle daughter.

Then in third was Highlight Proview Roseanna from R and S McColm, an R Hart Protein Preview daughter, with Farrick Dino 2 from J and C West in third, she is by Red Kite Sam.

The third class of Holsteins has been judged this morning by German judge Markus Mock, with this class won by Richaven Goldwyn Adrienne from Richard Bown, she's by Goldwyn, then in second spot was Bestfed Golden Countess from P Findley, this one is by Goldwyn too.

And third spot went to Wyndford Jordan Contented 384 from Willfred Maddocks, with this being a Roylane Jordan daughter and in fourth was Moorshard Shottle Tellar from the Miller family, she's by Shottle. Taking fifth place was Shanael River Mavis from Shanael Farms, she's by Braedale River.

The second Jersey class of the day was led by Bluegrass Heritages Lovely Lady from Hefin Wilson, with this being by Bluegrass Heathers Heritage, second spot went to the Saxby family with Saown Just Eclair 7, a Rapid Bay Just Wait daughter and in third was Goodtime Best Locket from Chettle Farm. She is by Goodtime Dee Best.

Following on in fourth place was Saxown BC Eclair 6 from the Saxby family, this is by Rapid Bay Just Wait, then filling the fifth place spot was Mydrim Excitation Sandy from J D Evans, with this being by Bridon Excitation.

In the first of the day's Dairy Shorthorn classes the winner was Churchroyd Bronte Wildeyes 29 from Messrs Collins, with this being by Atwell Atom, second place here was taken by Rodway Sonnschein 15 from G A Madeley, this is a Kingsdale Libbys Rebel daughter.

A trio of other breeds have now completed their first in-milk cow classe, with the first of the British Friesian classes won by Lismulligan Priscilla 41, a Deangate Prince 2 daughter from Brian Lawson and Sons, second to her was Lismulligan Eileen 24, another by the same sire from the same home.

In the Ayrshires the first of the in-milk classes was won by Gwynnog Sand Ranger Sailorgirl from Geraint Thomas, this is by Morwick Sand Ranger Red. Second spot went to Hunnington Fragy 12 from the Window family and third was another from the same home Hunnington Fragrance 50, a Blackaddar B B Kellogg.

In fourth here was Loukat Lucky from Richard Bown, an Ardrossan EV Kates Trident daughter, then in fifth was Heydale Winsome 113 from D W Berresford and Son, an Elegance Amiral daughter.

The Brown Swiss breed's first class of the morning was won by Constance Amelia from R Darlington and E Bruce, a Top Acres Brinks daughter. Then taking second was Quarry Dude Sian 2 from Caerlleon Farm , this is by Quarry Barnum Dude.

Third spot went to Quarry Luke Lovely, a Quarry Dalton Luke daughter from M and S Williams and in fourth spot was Kedar Becks Karolin from T Lochhead and Sons, she's by Kedar Becks. Fifth place went to Festival Jolt Becky from Angus Dalton, she's by Hilltop Acres T Jolt.

First Guernsey in milk class results

The first Guernsey in-milk class of the day has been decided, with the red ticket here going to Cadbury Hawk Pretty 86, a Jens Gold Hawk daughter from R J Norman and C Mills.

Second to her was Bickfield Ranbow 51 from C J R and S M H Evans, this is by Slindon Posies Ambionic. And then in third was Blacknor Liz 2 from I and D Crouch. She's a daughter of Sweet Symponys Cassidy.

In the second Holstein in milk class of the day the winner was Richaven Goldwyn Birdy from Richard Bown, this is a Goldwyn daughter. In second spot was Logan Mr Sam Gail from Bryan Yates. This is a Regancrest Mr-Drham Sam daughter and then in third was Woodhey Shottle Sunbeam, a Shottle daughter from P and R Robinson.

Taking fourth spot was Helton Gibson Raven, a Silky Gibson daughter from Joseph Heler and in fifth was Rendham Aspen Nav Jane from D and C Strachan, an EK-Oseeana Aspen daughter.

First DELS in milk cow results

The first classes have now been judged here at the NEC this morning in the Holsteins and the Jerseys.

Leading the first of the Holstein in milk classes was Castellhyfryd Spirte Rosina from Messrs Davies and Thomas. This is a Cedarwal Spirte daughter. Second to her was Peak Gold Rhapsody from Messrs Nadin and Bradbury, she's by Goldwyn and in third was Wyndford Mr Sam Margi 5 from Wilfred Maddocks. This is by Regancrest-MR Drham Sam.

Then in fourth place was Nobold Goldwyn Sara from T H Roberts and Sons, she's another by Goldwyn, standing in fifth was Sterndale Goldwyn Ghost,a Goldwyn daughter from Messrs Nadin and Bradbury.

In the first Jersey class of the day the winner was Bluegrass Charlies Happiest from Hefin Wilson. She is a Bluegrass Lord Charles daughter. Second spot here went to Grayridge Comerica Vivacious from D S McKellar, a Bridon Remake Comerica daughter.

Taking third place was Qunitrell May Katrina, a DJ May DJHB daughter from Quintrell Jerseys. Following on in fourth was IJB Ringmasters Light from D P Manning, she's a Family Hill Ringmaster daughter and in fifth was Hardinge Impuls Spice from Glanmor Jerseys, she's by Q Impuls DJHB.

All set for second day of judging at DELS

The stage is set for another action day of judging here at the National All Breeds Show at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, with the cow classes the focus of the action today.

Judging in all breeds gets underway at 9.30, with the Holsteins and Jerseys first in the rings.

Second Holstein in-milk heifer class finalised

The second of the Holstein in-milk heifer classes has now been judged, with the top spot taken by Wyndford Atlas Winsome 82 from W Maddocks, she's by MD-Delight Durham Atlas. Second to her was Logan Black Carmen from Bryan Yates, this is a daughter of homebred dam Logan Black Magic.

In third place was Riverdane Newz Sara, a Riverdane World Newz daughter from Riverdane Holsteins. Fourth was Crockers Rock Stocking Red from Messrs Bown and Bradley, she's a Baileys Red Rock Red daughter and in fifth was Richard Bown with Richaven Goldwyn Irene, a Braedale Goldwyn daughter.

The championship in the Holstein in-milk heifers was then taken by the winner from the senior class Berryholme Golden Flo from H Wright and Son, this is by Braedale Goldwyn.

Reserve overall was the second placed senior heifer Wyndford Goldwyn Erle from W Maddocks, she is again a Braedale Goldwyn daughter.

First Holstein in milk class decided at DELS

Judge Markus Mock has had a bumper entry in the first of the two heifer in milk classes in the Holsteins here at NEC. Taking top spot in this class was Berryholme Golden Flo from H Wright and Son, this is by Braedale Goldwyn.

Second to her was Wyndford Goldwyn Erle from W Maddocks, this is another Goldwyn daughter. Then in third was Helton Damion Roz from Joseph Heler, she is by Erbacres Damion and in fourth was Styche Damion Sally 2, another Erbacres Damion son, this time from Seaton Farms.

The fifth place ticket in this class was claimed by Aintree Shottle Nugget, a Shottle daughter from Aintree Holsteins.

Taking the top ticket in the Dairy Shorthorn heifer in milk class was Churchroyd Kirklevington 17 from I R G Churchroyd and Partners. This is an Innisfail Prince of Diamond daughter.692011 Dairy Shorthorn  Heifer Champ.JPGSecond to her was Rodway Safie 4 from G A Madeley, she's a Rodway Byron daughter, then in third was another from the Collins', Churchroyd Heather 48, a Drisgol Watson daughter. And following on in fourth spot was Rodway Butterbur 51 from G a Madeley.

In the Jersey heifers in milk the winner was Estill Comerica Radience from D P Manning, she is by Bridon Remake Comerica. 692011 Jersey Heifer Champ.JPGThen second to her was Woodbine Olympic Athena from Coldeaton Jerseys, this is by Wellhead Giller Star.

Third place in this class was won by Rapidbay-UK Reputation Radiance from Rapidbay-UK, this is by Rapidbay-UK Laramies Reputation and in fourth was Mydrim Remakes Tara 2, a Rock Ella Remake daughter from J D Evans.

Fifth spot in this class was taken by Goodtime Shyster Hale from A C Timbury, a WF Amadeo Shyster daughter.

Just three in-milk Guernsey heifers were forward for the breed's class, with the winner here being Rosewood Tradition Suzi from D and H Cox. This is by Brown Eden Tradition, second to her was Cadbury Hawk Onyx 2 from C J R and S M H Evans, she's a Jens Gold G Hawk daughter. Third in this class was Sharnford Lucinda from Suffolk Farmhouse Cheeses, this is by Land of Living P Garrett.

First DELS in milk classes judged

The first of the in-milk heifer classes are underway here at the NEC, with the Ayrshires first in to the ring.

Taking the red ticket in their in-milk heifer class was Hunnington Fragrance 55 from the Window family. This one is a Castern Tornado daughter. Second to her was Rosehill Prickly Indiana from W R C and J E Christophers, with this by homebred sire Rosehill Blackthorn.

In third was Haresfoot Napier Punch from Geraint Thomas, with this one being by Ardmore Crown Napier. Fourth spot went to Barr Easter Trixie from T Crawford and Co, a Haresfoot Brazen daughter and in fifth was Sandyford Jungle Girl 4 from E T Tomlinson and Son, she's by Cogent Retinue Red.

The Brown Swiss were next in with the milking heifers and the winner here was Kedar TD Reia from T Lochhead and Sons, this one is by Webster Ridge. Second place was taken by Soulseat Zola Marion, a Kedar Pronto Zola daughter from R and S McColm.

In third in this class was Sedgemoor Diablo Dream Toni from Brian Miller, she's by Arthurst Garbro Diablo. Then in fourth place was Kedar Scipo Fabiane from the Lochheads. She's by Paezza Denm Earn Scipio, with fifth place falling to Quarry Scipio Liz 2, another Scipio daughter.
Taking the heifer championship here in the Guernseys was Blacknor Cracker Banger Margaret from Chettle Farm. She is a daughter of Cracker Banger Boy.

Then in reserve was Hilcol Delta Gwawr from C J R and S M H Evans. This one is by Four Winds Royal Delta.

In the Brown Swiss it was a one:two for heifers from Brown Swiss Genetics, with the heifer champion being GS Alliance Glenn Jady, a Schamaun BD Gord Glenn daughter. Reserve to her was herdmate Dahlers Glenn Holeia, another by the same sire.

DELS Dairy Shorthorn and Jersey heifer championships

The Dairy Shorthorn heifer championship has gone to rodway Lisbet 6, here at the NEC this morning, with this one being by Nejay Ernie out of Rodway Lisbet.

In the Jersey classes the heifer championship was won by Saxown Big Boy Martha 3 from the Saxby family. She's a daughter of Osberton Angels Big Boy.

And in reserve was the winner from the youngest class of the day, Glanmor Belmont Fortune from Glanmor Jerseys, a Silver Spring Belmont daughter.
