Leading the way in the Angus rings under judge David Lucas of the Cheeklaw herd and carrying on
from her win at last month's Royal Highland Show was the nine year old
cow Rosemount Justine Erica from Peter and Linda Whittaker and Fraser
and Christina Cormack.
Taking the reserve overall spot was the reserve female champion Linton Gilbertines Ella from Gordon Brooke. By Hoff Limited Edition and born March 2009.
In the Beef Shorthorn classes it was yet another repeat win from the Highland with the six year old Trojan of Craigeassie on winning form again for the Horrell family, Peterborough. Trojan is by Belmore Fuel Injected and also took the interbreed honours at the Highland and East of England this year.Taking the reserve here under Donald Biggar was T L Severn with the April 2006-born cow Sandwick Duchess Zoe, who is by Croxton Park Ken.
In the Limousin classes, judge Harry Emslie gave Doug Mash the overall championship with his April 2006-born cow Brockhurst Bolshoi, by Grahams Samson. Standing reserve was the July 2009-born Dynamite Ella from David Cormack and Gaynor McDowell. This one is by Greenhill Viper.
Taking the top honours in the Charolais classes was the Turner family with Brampton Fugitive, an April 2010-born son of Trefonnen Crouch. Taking the reserve under judge Dave Murray was F and J Andrews with two year old heifer Holstead Emilia, by Dingle Hofmeister.

With the sheep interbreed judging split into four sections and undertaken by a varying panel of judges the marathon judging stint this morning meant many ringsiders were unsure exactly what they were watching.
However, the judges charged with selecting the overall champion knew what they were looking for and eventually found their interbreed champion in the form of two shear Charollais tup Logie Durno I'm Yer Man. This one is a Crogham Hannibal 2 son out of a ewe which is full sister to Logie Durno Eral Dunbar and is by Glyn Cloch Chippendale, he stood interbreed champion at last year's Royal Highland Show as a shearling.
Exhibited at Harrogate by Peter Vaughan, he is owned in a three way split by Mr Vaughan, The Quick family and Geoff Probert, having been bought at last year's premier Charollais sale at Worcester for 3750gns.
Standing reserve overall was a three shear Swaledale ewe from John Bradley. This one is by an £8500 Bull and Cave sire, which himself has previously stood reserve interbreed at the Great Yorkshire, and is out of a homebred dam by a Catlaw sire. She has previously been interbreed champion at Kilnsey show and is one of 650 Swaledale ewes run by Mr Bradley at home, alongside another 350 Dalesbred and crossbred ewes.
The Charollais came through as the terminal sire male champion, beating the Berrichon Du Cher from D R Whitcher in that section.
Terminal sire female honours went to Herbie Kennedy's Charollais ewe, with the Texel ewe from the Clark family reserve.
In the Shortwool/Lowland section the champion was the Southdown ram lamb from Terry and Lesley Mead, with the Bleu Du Maine from J W and K M Davison reserve.
Taking the female title in the same section was the Bleu Du Maine from Jonathan McInnes Skinner, reserve here was the Rouge from J R Wilkinson.
In the Longwool section the male title went to the Wensleydale from J N Prescott, reserve was the Leicester Longwool from Brian Glaves.
The Hill male championship went to the North Country Cheviot, while the hill female was won by the Swaledale. Reserve hill female was North Country Cheviot ewe.

Reserve overall here was a January-born Middle White junior boar from Steve Richardson and Janice Wood, Finnington Captain. This is by Joben Captain and out of Finnington Fair Lady, one of two Middle White sows owned by the partnership alongside four Large Black sows.

In the commercial cattle classes here at Harrogate the championship was won by Lincolnshire-based Trevor and Jonathan Lyon with their 646kg Limousin cross steer. This one was bought from Carlisle Mart last September as a calf for £1000 and has previously been reserve steer champion at Lincoln Show, he now heads on to Bakewell and a few other local shows at home.
Taking the reserve overall commercial cattle championship was Elfed Williams with Irish bred Limousin heifer Kilkenny Classy Lassy, a Rocky daughter. This one was bred in Eire and purchased at last year's Irish Winter Fair for E6000. She tipped the scales at 614kg and is unbeaten in her class this year, she now heads to the Royal Welsh next week.

She calved her third in June and was lucky to be at the show having suffered a displaced abomasum just 11 days beforehand. Giving 50kg a day, she was reserve breed champion at the Highland Show and gave 12,375kg in her second lactation at 4.55% butterfat and 3.5% protein.

The couple run 35 Hereford cows at home in Buckinghamshire where
Captain is stock bull for the herd. He is by Crickley 1 Figurehead and
out of Romany 1 Julia. He was bought for the herd after standing junior
interbreed at the Highland two years ago in a private deal for a figure
in the region of £8000.Captain came to the Yorkshire fresh from his interbreed win at the Royal Highland, making it the second year in succession that the interbreed winner from Ingliston has followed through to win here at Harrogate.
