Kivells continue to trade at a pace

Westcountry livestock auctioneers Kivells have seen seven very busy days at their trio livestock centres this week with over 7000 head of stock going under the hammer including 1400 store cattle selling up to ÂŁ815 for steers and ÂŁ740 for heifers.

Last year saw a 39% increase in store cattle trade through Kivells despite various animal health restrictions which limited the number of sales. However, 2008 has seen fantastic entries of up to 600 head/sale.

Cull cow trade is also going from strength to strength with auctions of 120+ being a regular event at Holsworthy Market (Devon) with this weeks prices selling to 109 p/kg (ÂŁ791) and averaging 88.24 p/kg (ÂŁ576).
