The farming industry is hoping to promote the 2007 Farmhouse Breakfast Week by setting a world record for cooking the largest bowl of porridge.

The NFU and Home-Grown Cereals Authority, with help from the Territorial Army, will attempt to set a Guinness world record at the NFU’s headquarters on Tuesday, 16 January.

Cooking will commence at 6am and organiser are hoping to be able to serve the porridge to local schoolchildren at 8am.

Farmhouse Breakfast Week runs from 21 January to 27 January and the world record attempt is designed to highlight the importance of a healthy breakfast, particularly porridge.

It will also link in with the NFU’s Why Farming Matters campaign and the issue of food miles.
