Beef Shorthorn ladies lead Stirling trade at £11k
Females hit the headlines in the Beef Shorthorn ring on Monday (17 October), when prices levelled at 11,000gns, setting a new breed average of £3,021, up £817 on the year.
Leading lady at 11,000gns was Coldrochie Grace Beauty, an 18-month-old in-calf roan heifer by the 12,000gns Knockenjig Foremost and out of a homebred dam from Douglas McMillan, Luncarty, Perthshire. The buyers were JR Graham and Partners, Biggar, Lanarkshire.

Mr McMillan offered a draft of eight more entries, including two in-calf heifers at 5,500gns. Coldrochie Broadhooks, an 18-month-old red-and-little-white Foremost daughter, sold to A and C Farms, Langham, Rutland.

Coldrochie Catriona Rosebud, a 19-month-old roan by Chapelton Winsome, commanded 5,500gns from Ross Withers, Truro, Cornwall.
Female champion Castlemount Matrix Zoe, a 16-month-old roan by Elliot Matrix from DD McDowell, Newtownards, County Down, commanded the day’s second highest price of 7,500gns. She sold to Cherry Valley Farms, Crumlin, Antrim.
Next at 6,500gns came from a draft from Major John and Catriona Gibb, Blairgowrie, Perthshire to Cherry Valley Farms. Glenlisa Desiree is a 19-month-old roan heifer by the home-bred Glenisla Excalibur.
Three more entries from the Gibb family, this time by the 7,000gns Flight Lieutenant of Upsall, were among the sale leaders.
A bid of 5,000gns was made by James Cameron, Cupar, Augus for Glenisla Desiree, a 19-month-old red-and-little-white, while a second 5,000gns price was paid by I Tennant for Glenisla Sally Broadhooks, an 18-month-old roan.
Glenisla Foxglove Flake, a 17-month-old roan by Flight Lieutenant, made 4,000gns to HG Murray, Bonar Bridge, Sutherland.
Bulls
The bull trade made 6,500gns for Rumsden Harry, a two-year-old roan by the 10,000gns Chapelton Clansman from Sarah Wilkins, Jarvis Brook, East Sussex, sold to I Brown, Sanday, Orkney.
