Former Defra secretary Owen Paterson has launched a blistering attack against environmental pressure groups over their continued opposition to GM technology. Mr Paterson accused the “green blob” – a network of environmental groups, renewable energy companies and some public officials – of “condemning billions to hunger, poverty and underdevelopment”.
