Peer boycotts top grocer over foie gras

SCOTLANDS premier peer the Duke of Hamilton has boycotted a top Edinburgh store because it refuses to stop selling pate de foie gras.

Jenners has turned down a written request from the Duke asking it to withdraw the product because of the suffering to geese and ducks in making it.

The store says it will continue selling foie gras so long as customers want it, reports The Times.

Birds used in the production of foie gras are force-fed up to 1kg of maize at a time, causing their livers to swell abnormally.
