Auto grain drying saves energy
Automatic control of grain drying fans with differential thermostats can reduce energy costs by up to 40% and cool grain quicker than manually-controlled fans, according to the latest HGCA research.
The system uses one thermometer in the grain and another outside in the ambient air to run the fans automatically when the difference between the two reaches a predetermined value (normally Ëś4C).
Findings from the project will be featured at the mycotoxin and storage workshops being run in association with ACCS between now and March. For dates and venues, see www.hgca.com/events
