Best wheat harvest in Warks

Jo Scott in Rugby, Warwickshire, said harvest this year has been better than they could have asked for. Four hundred hectares of winter wheat did better than last year when an isolated storm devastated the crops.

Hereward yielded 8.25 – 8.5t/ha, Malacca 9.25t/ha and feed wheats 10t/ha. Mr Scott finished cutting on August 17, which was earlier than ever before.

He was reasonably pleased with yields and very pleased with quality. Milling wheats met full specification, with protein at 13% and Hagbergs 300 – 360.

He added: “I’m very pleased with the performance of the machinery and staff this year.”
