“It’s yielding fairly well,” he said. The 49ha (120 acres) of Tipple was averaging about 7.4t/ha (3t/acre) so far, with 32ha (80 acres) of Optic to cut after that.

The Robigus, Zebedee, Oakley and Humber were not yet ripe, said Mr Juhl. “The second wheats are starting to look a little bit discoloured. Generally it all looks well at the moment but the forecast is not good.”

Mr Juhl’s Castille and Astrid oilseed rape produced an average yield, at 3.3t/ha (1.3t/acre).

 Syngenta

Duxford winter wheat is an HGCA Recommended List 2008/09 variety with very high UK treated yields and the top score for resistance to lodging with PGR. Combined with an unbeaten second wheat yield and a balanced disease resistance profile, this new variety from Syngenta Seeds will help UK growers rise to the challenge of producing more grain profitably.
