Centaur pushes food chain links

One of UK‘s largest farmer-owned grain supplier is encouraging farmers to build stronger links with the food chain.

Centaur Grain, which markets more than two million tonnes of cereals, oilseeds and pulses for its 1,300 members, is hosting part the HSBC-sponsored Food Chain Management exhibit at Cereals.

“One of our main aims is to convey to producers the increasing importance of developing long-term strategic alliances with end users in the food chain,” said group chief executive Peter Lanario.

The company has a long-established relationship with Warburtons and has recently extended its “strategic alliances” to other major companies, including Bernard Matthews and Coors Brewing.

Long-term contracts that deliver clear mutual benefits offer an increasingly attractive option for both producers and consumers, said the company.
