Restrictions lifted for key cereal SDHI fungicide
© Gary Naylor The chemicals regulation division (CRD) of the Health and Safety Executive has lifted restrictions on the use of a key SDHI fungicide, giving growers greater options for crops following on from wheat.
Up to now, farmers have been restricted to a maximum of 75g of Bayer’s fungicide Iblon (isoflucypram) every two years in the same field. At the minimum supported dose of 50g/ha active substance, this effectively limited its use to one application every two years.

Therefore, growers were unable to take advantage of the fungicide active in following cereal crops.
Bayer says this follows the successful submission and evaluation of additional data submitted by the company, and reflects the strength of its regulatory science team and the weight of evidence supporting Iblon safety and efficacy.
For the other Iblon-containing products such as Jessico Fusion (Iblon + Inatreq active (fenpicoxamid)), Plaxium (Iblon + prothioconazole + fluopyram), Cale, Ipresso, Resilis, Milteo, Scorpio and Vivalis (Iblon + prothioconazole) the restriction will be lifted for the 2026 season, meaning these products can be applied to approved crops grown in the same field in successive seasons.
The CRD has also granted a label extension allowing Vimoy (Iblon) to be used on barley crops, thereby expanding options for the 2026 cropping season.
Commenting on the announcement, Bayer Crop Science managing director Nils Bauer said it was good news for GB growers.
“Many have come to appreciate the excellent broad-spectrum performance of Iblon and its ability to improve yield through extended crop greening, even where disease pressure is low, as it will extend crop protection to successive crops grown in the same field.”
