Drier weather this week, says Met Office
England, Wales and Eastern Scotland could enjoy a few consecutive dry days this week, but unsettled weather is forecast to return next week.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday (28-30 August) were likely to be fine, according to the Met Office, with high pressure building in the south.
“Even then, the far North-West – Scotland and Northern Ireland – does continue to be affected by trailing low pressure systems from the Atlantic,” said spokesman Barry Gromett.
Thunderstorms could materialise in the south on Sunday, and unsettled weather was likely to return next week, he said.
