Early finish expected in Lincolnshire
Mark Woodroff on the Lincolnshire/ Cambridgeshire border is looking forward to an early finish with wheat giving him a nice break before the potatoes.
With 400 acres of wheat well on its way and peas and oilseedrape already combined, things are looking pretty good at Hundreds Farm.
Yields are around average for the farm although a couple of fields were slightly lower due to the dry weather.
The main problem faced this year is keeping the potatoes irrigated in the hot weather. With three irrigation points in the field Mr Woodroff estimates that 10 million gallons of water have been used so far this year.
But he feels this is money well spent as he can see more potential in the price compared to grain this year.
