Farmers are good conservationists, says TFA

The Tenant Farmers Association will be focusing on the fact that, contrary to popular belief, farmers are good conservationists.
TFA is promoting best practice examples from among its membership including Emma Bradley, from Sturton-le-Steeple near Retford, who is the winner of this year’s Wilkinson Environment Awards for Nottinghamshire.
Emma, who farms with her father, has wide ranging knowledge and enthusiasm for farming and wildlife on the mixed arable and sheep farm.
She said: “We try to ensure that our farming practices work in tandem with conservation and compliment each other. Each year we try to add a new environmental feature, like a pond, or enhance an existing one, like the old orchard that we’re gradually renovating.”
