Farmers Club breakfast to kickstart day two

Kickstart the second day of the Cereals Event, 16th June, with The Farmers Club networking breakfast.

There will be two speakers, Paul Heygate, managing director of Heygate Mills and vice-chairman of The Farmers Club, and Heygate’s chief wheat buyer, George Mason. Breakfast will be hearty bacon rolls and hot refreshments and will be held in the Oxford Farming Conference/Cereals Event Conference Marquee from 8.30am on 16 June. The cost is ÂŁ5 a head and all are welcome.

The Heygate Group has seven flour mills on three sites – Bugbrooke, Tring, Hertfordshire, and Downham Market, Norfolk, and employs 900 people, compared with just 20 in 1935. The sites mill more than 400,000t of wheat each year and produce over 5,500t of flour every week. The Animal Feed division produces more than 100,000t annually.

Heygate’s Fine Lady bakery, with plants in Banbury and Manchester, is one of the most modern in Europe, with the capacity to bake more than three million loaves a week, plus a wide range of morning goods and speciality products. The company is also involved in farming in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Norfolk.
