Huge variations in crop establishment and growth stages will make fungicide planning even more challenging this spring and we need your help in getting a clearer picture of the current disease pressure in crops.

The feedback you give us will help us share some of the facts and advice on how to optimise fungicide programme choices after a difficult 2012 disease season in our Fungicide Special in 1 March Farmers Weekly.

These variations in crop establishment and growth stage bring their own set of disease management challenges and many growers will hope that the current reports of low disease levels in crops continue.

So what does this mean for fungicide programmes?

How much will growers be willing to spend on some of the backward crops that are currently limping their way out of winter? Will you include a T0?

Are growers definitely going to be using an SDHI fungicide at T2 in winter wheat? Will they consider using one at T1 if the disease pressure escalates?

With a likely new addition into the SDHI fungicide market from DuPont, there will be more choice when considering products to use in your programme, but how good is it and where will it be used?

Then there is the issue of ear blight. Will growers invest more money at T3 to protect against the widespread fusarium and microdochium seen in 2012?

Choices for controlling key barley diseases are numerous, so which one will you use? The spring barley area is also set to rocket this season, so what are your plans to keep those crops clean?

What about oilseed rape?
