“We had a bad establishment but it recovered very well,” he said. “It was a huge crop.”
121ha (300 acres) of Expert and Castille averaged 3.9t/ha (1.6t/acre) while 24ha (60 acres) of Expert which had been dessicated for more than four weeks came in at 3.5t/ha (1.4t/acre).
Mr Keevil hoped to start his Tipple spring barley this weekend (16 August) and the wheat was also nearly ready. “It’s all going to come at the same time.”
