FLOOD PICTURES: Flood waters leave Lincs farmers with an unusual harvest problem

Combines have been going in some parts of the country, but places affected by the recent floods are likely to find harvest a bit of a challenge.

This picture sent in by FW reader Robert Borrill in Lincs shows a rather unusual problem.

During the recent floods a large number of round silage bales floated into the middle of one his wheat fields and have been left stranded there as the water has drained away.

Mr Borrill of A M Borrill & Son had 40 ha (100 acres) of wheat flooded so badly that he couldn’t see the ears for over a week. The land is at Waddingham in northern Lincolnshire.
