Harvest gets underway in the south of the UK

Combine harvesters have been in action in the south of England over the weekend (7/8 July).

Users of this website and readers of Farmers Weekly have been sending in images and messages confirming the start of harvest 2007.

A respite from the recent wet weather allowed growers to make a start on barley crops although it’s too early for an indication of yields.

The forecast for the next few days is for more unsettled weather which is likely to hold up progress.
