Heading off to help the Duke

Glynn Jones has finished combining at Plas-yr-Esgov, St. Asaph, Wales, and is heading off to Chester to help out at the Grosvenor Estate today (10 September).

“It’s a good hour and half drive in the combine, but both of our big combines finished up last night,” he said.

“The little combine has just got 14ha left to do, and it’s been an exceptionally hard harvest.

“Unfortunately, I lost my father out of the blue, who drove one of the combines, so that was very sad.

“We’ve also had poor weather, poor yields and poor bushel weights.

“Add in a lot of fusarium and getting stuck with the combine because it’s so wet underfoot, and it is definitely a year to forget.”
