HGCA Recommended List 2013/14

Last week saw wholesale changes to the HGCA Recommended Lists 2013/14, with 41 new varieties being added, while 24 have been removed.

For winter wheat, there are 10 new additions that include a new Nabim Group 2 breadmaking variety (Chilton).

Other highlights include a step up in yield for feed barley varieties with KWS Glacier taking the top yield crown from Retriever with a yield of 107% of the control.

Moving to winter oilseed rape, the east/west list sees seven additions and nine make it on to the north list.

DK Imagine CCL, the first Clearfield variety with imidazolinone tolerance, is included in the Descriptive List while there is much interest in the semi-dwarf Troy, with semi-dwarfs possible being the way forward for oilseed rape in the longer-term.
