Essex farmer Tim Cooper in Wix is half way through 120ha of wheat. He said Malacca yields of 7.5t/ha had been affected by the severe drought and so were down on last year’s 9.4t/ha.

He said the bushel weights were ok, protein was very high, and Hagbergs were good.

Oilseed rape harvest had gone very well, with 68ha of Expert oilseed rape yielding 4.75t/ha. “It’s the best we’ve had in years,” he said.
