Hopes to restart combining tomorrow
Heavy rain over the weekend meant the combine had been sidelined once again at Jim Cargill’s Coldstream Farm, Fettercairn, Aberdeenshire.
Last week he managed to combine 20ha (49 acres) of Gerald winter oats, leaving 6ha (16 acres) to finish off. “Hopefully it will have dried out enough to get on tomorrow,” he said.
But although most of the crop was in the barn, he was not sure how well it had yielded.
With the winter barley finished, Mr Cargill would then have 26ha (65 acres) of Decanter spring barley to get into later this week.
