Keith Harris builds up to oilseed rape

Oilseed rape is still a week away at Keith Harris’s Manor Farm, Stilton, Gillingham, Dorset.

Dessicated last week (w/e 11 July), the 19ha (48 acres) of Astrid, Catana, and Castille looked reasonable, he said. “I haven’t seen anything being harvested yet – which is about normal.”

After the rape Mr Harris expected a break before combining the 140ha (346 acres) of winter wheat. “It’s looking very good at the moment,” he said.

 Syngenta

Duxford winter wheat is an HGCA Recommended List 2008/09 variety with very high UK treated yields and the top score for resistance to lodging with PGR. Combined with an unbeaten second wheat yield and a balanced disease resistance profile, this new variety from Syngenta Seeds will help UK growers rise to the challenge of producing more grain profitably.
