LATE DELIVERY ALLOWANCE UP

BRITISH SUGAR has agreed to double the late delivery allowance for beet growers affected by processing delays at the Allscott factory, Shropshire.

From Feb 10, the allowance (initially worth ÂŁ2.39/t) will be increased by 0.4% a day (12p), compared with the current 0.2% (6p) daily rise, said the NFU’s Mike Blacker.

The increase will apply to all beet, including “C” beet, and could be worth an extra 1.83/t to growers by the end of the campaign (about Mar 10 at Allscott), he said.
