Tim Lock has finished his 34ha (85 acres) of oilseed rape at Houghton Farm, Arundel, Sussex, averaging about 3.2t/ha (1.3t/acre).

“It was a real mixed bag – it was all Lioness and we had some pigeon damage,” he said. “It was about average.”

With no winter barley, Mr Lock expected to be into the 36ha (90 acres) of Einstein winter wheat early next week (w/c 28 July). “We’re normally pretty early down here,” he said.
