Relatively few new names grace latest Recommended Lists

Combinable crop growers trawling the new HGCA Recommended Lists of varieties for 2008/09 will find their choices reduced.
The lists include only 13 new names, but 22 varieties have been dropped.
In what manager Jim McVittie describes as a “quiet year” for introductions there are three new winter wheats, one winter barley, a quartet each of winter oilseed rapes and spring barleys and a novel spring oat.
